Ryeco built marking systems for the paper industry for more than three decades. Ryeco and Sandar Industries became Monarch Paper Group, and the same marking technology, the same engineers and the same installed base continue under the Monarch name. If you are running a Ryeco marker today, it is a Monarch product and we support it.
Five Marking Technologies, One Platform
Every Monarch marking system places a colored or invisible mark on a moving web, manually or automatically, using specialty-formulated dyes selected for the material.
Break Marking — Mark Every Restored Web Break
Break Marking places a mark on the web after a sheet break is restored. An undetected break in a jumbo roll of paper, tissue or any continuous web creates major problems downstream. Marking every restored break lets converting operations take corrective action, and manages controlled slowdowns instead of blow-ups. It also removes the unsafe practice of hand marking — safety cages around the reel area are increasingly mandatory, and they block the access hand marking requires.
Code Marking — Footage Codes for Stop-on-Defect
Code Marking encodes intelligent information on a moving web, most commonly incrementing length or footage. All major brands of web inspection system are compatible with Monarch code marking equipment. Code marking synchronises the web to a defect map for automatic unwind control, so inspection systems stop at the defect instead of relying on manual processes.
Defect Marking — Precise Identification of Defects
The Monarch Defect Marker places a colored or invisible mark on the web at a position relative to a defect or process upset. It can be used manually or by machine operators, interfaces with any web inspection system, and can be triggered automatically by any process control equipment. The result is 100% defect-free product and no hand-flagging.
Mark Detection — Verify Every Mark Is Placed
Mark Detection is a spot sensor tuned to the color contrast and texture of a moving web. It detects marks at web speeds up to 10,000 fpm with a 16-millisecond response time (0.5 milliseconds at the sensor). It closes the loop on defect removal automatically, so no operator has to watch the web for a mark they might miss.
Stripe Marking — Continuous Edge Marking for Orientation
Stripe Marking places continuous or dashed stripes along the full length of a web to indicate orientation or product type. It identifies a specific material grade in a multi-ply product, filter media orientation, or the coated and uncoated surface of a material. Multiple marking colors can distinguish several products running on the same line.
Seamless Integration with Any Web Inspection System
Monarch marking systems are OEM-agnostic. They interface with any web inspection system, DCS or process control equipment, regardless of who built it. That matters in a mill running mixed vendors, and it is the reason code marking synchronises to a defect map produced by someone else’s inspection camera.
5th Generation Marking System — Upgrade Path from Legacy 3g
The 5g system upgrades legacy 3g installations with a new operator cabinet and software, the newest PLC, short-circuit-protected outputs and event logging. The 4.3-inch HMI color touchscreen supports multiple languages and gives on-screen setup and troubleshooting assistance with more specific error messages. The Nano controller changes signal type from PNP (active high) to NPN (active low). Stainless steel ink tanks never need replacement and include low-level sensors as standard, the upgraded vacuum kit reduces overspray and dried dye in the jaw, and the new actuator uses a stepper motor with a self-lubricating stainless steel lead screw.
